+ General Considerations

  • Primary ureteral tumors are very rare in animals and usually occur secondary to neoplastic disease of the kidney, bladder, or retroperitoneal space
  • Malignant ureteral tumors include TCC, leiomyosarcoma, and MCT
  • Benign ureteral tumors include fibropapilloma, papilloma, leiomyoma, and fibroepithelial polyps

+ Treatment

  • Segmental ureterectomy can be attempted for benign lesions
  • Nephroureterectomy is the preferred treatment for malignant ureteral tumors
