+ General Considerations
- Primary ureteral tumors are very rare in animals and usually occur secondary to neoplastic disease of the kidney, bladder, or retroperitoneal space
- Malignant ureteral tumors include TCC, leiomyosarcoma, and MCT
- Benign ureteral tumors include fibropapilloma, papilloma, leiomyoma, and fibroepithelial polyps
+ Treatment
- Segmental ureterectomy can be attempted for benign lesions
- Nephroureterectomy is the preferred treatment for malignant ureteral tumors
